Well, y'all asked, so I'll tell ya. *said in my best American accent*
I've kept mainly cichlids, love their breeding behaviour, they're excellent parents. Specifically convicts, as you pretty much have to do nothing and they'll breed like mozzies. Extremely interesting to observe.
I've done the usual mixed tanks of freshwater tropicals, guppies are us, angels, neons, danios, swords, etc and all the normal stuff everyone keeps. Been there, kept that.
Bought about 30 odd breeding fish tanks, had about 5 x 1.2 metre show tanks running simultaneously at one time, little tanks going too, then realised that breeding fish as a hobby does not pay well, despite the fact that it's fun. So sold all the tanks, fish, heaters, equipment, filters, etc, except for 1 setup. Currently it has one poor lonely Plecostomus Catfish, Hypostomus plecostomus.
This fish is often known in the hobby as the Pleco, or Pl*co. The story behind the irregular spelling of "pl*co" is that if you spell it correctly your pleco will soon die. Well, I can safely say that the mythtery surrounding that is just a myth.
So, I've moved my pc desk, now the fishtank needs to move and some friends added for the poor guy. Maybe this weekend. No promises. ;) I managed to find an istock photo of a pleco.
